The group combines nonlinear continuum mechanics, variational modeling, finite element methods and open-source implementation, with applications in advanced soft materials and structures.

Soft surfaces and surface energy

Surface elasticity, curvature dependence and the instabilities that surface stress drives in soft solids.

Contact of highly deformable bodies

Third-medium contact formulations and regularizations that stay robust when the contact zone dominates the problem.

Active and multiphysics materials

Magneto- and electro-elasticity, pneumatic actuation, and coupling that changes the effective response of a structure.

Scientific software

Open-source finite element development, from constitutive models to solvers, in OOFEM.
