Marco Amato submits a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Global Fellowship proposal

Marco Amato has submitted a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship proposal in the Global Fellowship variant. The outgoing phase would be hosted by Luis Dorfmann at Tufts University, with our group hosting the return phase back in Prague.

Martin Horák co-organized ICMM9 in Prague

Martin Horák served on the organising committee of ICMM9, the 9th International Conference on Material Modeling, held at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Czech Technical University in Prague, on 1–3 September 2026. Earlier editions were held in Paris, Warsaw, Berkeley, Rome, Lund, Cape Town and London; Prague hosted the ninth.

PRIORITY project on disruptive materials for submarine invisibility has started

The European Defence Fund project PRIORITY: Disruptive Materials for Submarine Invisibility (EDF-2025-LS-RA-SMERO, proposal no. 101304832) started on 1 September 2026 and runs for 48 months. Martin Horák is the Czech principal investigator. See the projects page for details.

SOFFA received an excellent final evaluation

The final evaluation of SOFFA (MŠMT ERC CZ, project no. LL2310), on soft surfaces — constitutive models, instabilities and numerics — was excellent. The project ran from 2024 to 2025 and much of the group's current work on surface mechanics grew out of it. See the projects page.

Institutional support through the CTU GAČR Near-Miss scheme

The group receives institutional support from the Czech Technical University in Prague through its GAČR Near-Miss Projects scheme, which funds proposals that were rated highly but fell just outside the GAČR funding line. The support runs from February to December 2026.
